This weeks pick for the Wednesday Morning Music Meeting is the new single from Aussie Rock Band Thirsty Merc - Emancipate Myself.
When love goes bad - it's all about picking up your guitar and writing a song like this one, which, with any luck will send your career into hyperdrive, glossing over all your emotional deficiencies...........Revenge is sweet and sort of hilarious if you're Dubbo rockers Thirsty Merc, poised for the kind of success with women only a hit single can bring.
This band, made up of four lads from Dubbo in their early 20's, formed in 2002 and having explored the usual bedroom 8 track options hit the road looking suitably undernourished and suffering from the serious Vitamin A deficiency only found in aspiring rock bands.
Despite describing their sound as 'Rock Sinatra' they were quickly signed by Warner Music and their debut album is due for release in August 2004.
Not yet old enough to be actually jaded but hip enough to fake it, lead vocalist, guitarist and pianist Rai Thistlethwayte admits to autobiographical content in this single 'Emancipate Myself' the story of one boys efforts to free himself from an unhealthy relationship - Oprah eat your heart out!
Interestingly the band have used the original stalker song "Every Breath You Take" to set the scene for 'Emancipate Myself' the ultimate anthem for neurotics, the self obsessed, and the un-lucky in love.
