Those well-dressed spunks from Thirsty Merc have taken enough time from their touring to actually record their debut album which builds on the success of their EP 'Emancipate Myself'. It's so good to see real Aussie talent getting a shot. The album contains the hits from the EP like 'Emanciptate Myself' and 'Wasting Time'.
For those who haven't caught on to Thirsty Merc yet, these four boys from Wollongong work an energetic blend of pop/rock with a good focus on solid melodies and good singing, which a lot of other bands sorely need. The album shows the boys have got more going on than they got to show us in their EP. The album has a mix of intencities and styles which makes for a really refreshing mix - let's face it, most of us stopped listening halfway through The Vines and Jet!
Relationships form the basis of the album, from the good ('My Completeness', 'Wasting Time') to the less than good ('Emancipate Myself'), to the difficult ('Someday, Someday'). There are equal parts hope ('Undivided Love') and angst ('I Wish Somebody Would Build A Bridge (So I Can Get Over Myself)').
There are pleasant surprises hidden in here too - the gentle anthem 'Hope' is awesome.
And of course, it doesn't hurt that they're cute and really nice guys too... and they dress well! Expect great things from these local lads.
