20 Good Reasons, I wrote the lyrics just as I arrived in New York one time, at the start of ’05. I just knew I was moving on from one relationship to another. And it was an inevitable thing. I look outside and there’s people everywhere and I’m just lost in translation within it all, lost within all the hysteria. It’s almost like I had to let go of control of the situation. It’s one of those matter-of-fact songs: It just says: ‘Life is life, this is what happens sometimes. Just live with it.’ But the chorus is pitched with a question mark – why does it have to be like this? It’s a very real song.
